I Corps is hosting a Korean War Veterans Salute at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Nov. 13 at 10 am. The event will be open to the public and include interactive displays with service members along with the ceremony. We are exceptionally grateful for all the work your organizations did last year to help promote and raise awareness of the JBLM Vietnam-era Veteran Salute last year and we are hoping for your continued support this year. Your efforts in getting the word out to our veterans and advice on ways forward (we are still looking for a keynote speaker for example) are greatly appreciated.

Please feel free to contact me anytime and thank you for everything you do for America's veterans.

Seattle WA Vets Will Clinic Event (October 24, 2015)
Date:
Saturday, October 24, 2015
Time: Day-long
Location: University of Washington School of Law, 4293 Memorial Way Northeast, Seattle, WA 98195
WA Vets Will Clinic | North Sound - Seattle

Registration for the 2015 Clinic is open! Click here to register.

Veterans of any military branch can receive a free set of estate planning documents (a will, advance health care directive and power of attorney) on Saturday, October 24 from the Washington Veterans Will Clinic.  This is the second year the clinic is available in the Puget Sound area.  It originated in Spokane in 2012 and has served over 300 veterans.  To qualify, the veteran needs discharge papers (DD 214), proof of Washington residency and assets less than $500k ($1 mil if married; spouses are included at the clinic).

Veterans can now register online at www.wavetswillclinic.com (full details and disclaimers on the website). Attorneys will use the online registration to prepare draft documents.  The veteran will then be scheduled for a one-hour meeting with an attorney on Saturday, October 24.  Changes to the documents will be made on-site.  The documents are printed, signed and notarized at the clinic.  The veteran walks out with a complete set of documents at no cost.  To obtain these documents privately, the average cost is $500-$1000.  The majority of Washingtonians do not have estate planning documents so the clinic provides a much needed resource.

Several veteran service organizations will also be at the clinic to answer questions and provide resources.  The North Sound clinic will be at the University of Washington School of Law in north Seattle on Saturday, October 24.  Free parking is available for all veterans.  Please pass the word to any veterans you know about this great resource.  For further information or questions, please contact the North Sound clinic at  seattle@wavetswillclinic.com or 425-610-6355.
