In preparation for Veterans Day 2015, members of the Edmonds Job's Daughters chapter planned and implemented a Vietnam War 50th Anniversary Commemorative display in the lobby of the Mountlake Terrace library. These talented ladies will also be helping with the event on Sunday, November 8th at 2pm at the American Legion Post 234 hall. Please take a minute to stop by the Mountlake Terrace library and check out the display. The display will be available for viewing from 11/1 to 11/14. Former Sgt. Harry Simons, an AFVN disc jockey with the call sign "Your Brother" in Saigon and Da Nang from 1967 to 1969, teamed up with Florida-based WEBY radio to broadcast original AFVN radio programming in a tribute to America’s veterans.
The commemoration will air from 4-6 p.m. CST, Oct. 26 through Oct. 30, on 1330 AM in the American southeast and live-streamed on the station's website. An encore presentation will also air in its entirety from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Veteran’s Day, Nov. 11. Read more here. There will be a Vietnam War 50th Anniversary Commemoration Committee meeting at the Post 234 hall on Thursday, August 13th at 6:00 PM. American Legion Post 234 members participated in the Lynnwood Memorial Day ceremony at Veterans Park. Ben Hawkins' sons Corey and Ben displayed the Vietnam War 50th Anniversary Commemorative Flag.
