7/26/2015

The Marine Corps League Detachment 336 Puget Sound is proud to announce the “First Annual Puget Sound Marines Golf Tournament”, scheduled to be held on September 26, 2015 at Willow Run Golf Course, 10402 Willows Rd, Redmond, WA 98052 to benefit veterans.

We invite you to be a corporate sponsor for the “Puget Sound Marines Golf Tournament” which is a fundraising event to benefit the Wounded Warrior Regiment, local Marine Support, Seattle Young Marines, Toys for Tots, Leatherneck Honor Guard, General Fund, and local patriotic events.

The Marine Corps League is the only Federally Chartered, Marine Corps related veterans organization in the country. The League was organized by then-Commandant John A. Lejeune in 1923. In 1937, Congress nationally chartered the League. It is a not-for-profit organization within the provisions of the Internal Revenue Service Code 501(c) (4), with a special group exemption letter which allows for contributions to the Marine Corps League, its Auxiliary and subsidiary units, to be tax deductible by the donor. The Marine Corps League Detachment 336 Puget Sound is the oldest detachment in Washington State.

The United States Marine has honorably defended America’s freedom from the Revolutionary War through the Global War on Terror. The world’s greatest warriors need our support for the price they paid in blood and valor for our freedom. And the youth of our community deserve role models for American ideals and freedom. Join us to in Marines Helping Marines. “We are looking for a Few Good Corporate Citizens”.

Marines are known for being “Gung Ho” (working together). Here is your opportunity to be Gung Ho for our Marine Corps veterans by selecting one of the following:

I want to thank Post 234 for their sponsorship of two students for Evergreen Boys State 2015.

This year marked the 75th anniversary of Evergreen Boys State, which was held at the Warm Beach Conference Center in Stanwood from 21 – 27 June.

As part of establishing and operating their own city, county and state government, Yoshi Choi (City of Fir) was elected to the State Supreme Court, and Veng Hong (City of Elm) was elected as a State Senator.

Both boys will be Seniors this Fall at Kamiak High School in Mukilteo.

From 23-26 July, 2015, Marine Corps veteran Bridget Guerrero will run a mile around the Puget Sound for every female servicewoman who has died during the Global War on Terror. The total distance to be covered in 4 days is 160 miles. Bridget is running in support of an organization called The Valor Run (www.valorrun.org), which was started by a Holy Cross college colleague, Captain Nancy Stewart Lacore, USN. Nancy came up with the idea of running a mile for every woman lost while serving in Afghanistan during 2011-12, and completed her “Valor Run” in October, 2014, running from Norfolk, VA to Washington, DC.
