Eagle Scout Project

11/27/2014

I am a boy scout from Troop 535 and I am working on starting my Eagle Project. One part of my Eagle project that I am hoping to do is that I would like to interview and videotape some stories of those who have been in the military. I would like to organize some boy scouts to help and conduct the interviews. I wonder if it would be possible to send these interview to local libraries and national archives. The second part I am hoping to do for my Eagle project is some maintenance work for the American Legion Hall.

Thank you for working with me and giving me this opportunity to work with your organization on my Eagle project.

Sincerely,

Carl Worthey
Boy Scout Troup 535
I just wanted to let you know that I finished the painting projects outside at The American Legion hall. I have attached some finished photos. I put painters masking tape around the edges of the lettering ,the flagpole and the two parking poles. I then applied one coat of red paint today. My father and I also picked up trash in front of the cement sign, edged, and mowed the grass in front of the sign to make it look crisp and neat.  We have a half gallon of paint left over that we will give you for future painting touch-ups.

We also got a group of scouts together to replace the ivy with mulch. I would also like to schedule with you to replace the thermostats and carpet strip at your convenience.

Sincerely,

Carl Worthey

Meet the Gettysburg Veteran That Received the Medal of Honor Today

Earlier this afternoon, President Obama awarded the Medal of Honor to First Lieutenant Alonzo H. Cushing for his heroic acts of bravery while serving as an artillery commander during the Civil War.

Typically, the Medal of Honor is awarded within a few years of the action, but as the President noted, "sometimes even the most extraordinary stories can get lost in the passage of time."

"For this American family, this story isn’t some piece of obscure history -- it is an integral part of who they are," he said. "And today, our whole nation shares their pride, and celebrates what this story says about who we are."

Watch the President's full remarks here.
